This thread will be for questions about fighting locks.
Looking for a good discussion, or a very experienced player to give a guide on how to fight them.
Its usually given that we cannot beat locks, but we can fight back and hope that they screw up.. i will always be mage FTW letsget this started,
When do YOU guys use CS.I think that you should freeze the demon, usually a melee fighter, in place with Frost Nova.
Then you should use Counter-spell on the warlock when he is about to cast something. Then go in with a bunch of attacks, hoping you win.and those damn DOTs............ugh locks. The best I can try to do is first throw up my combustion. if hes gonna fear me throw in a counterspell. hit him with dragons breath and when he's dazed sheep him. while hes sheeped I charge up pyroblast and then hit hit him
with everything I've got.Ok guys, I have a 70 lock and also a 16 mage i've been working with and just wanted to throw in some weaknesses for a lock i guess.
First off, in PVP, fear has a diminishing return. With the low amount of HP's that a mage has this probably won't matter though but you should have at least 1, possibly two ways to break fear if you are feared. #1 being
a trinket. #2, if you're horde and undead you have Will of the Forsaken.
I do agree with using frost nova on the pet since it is melee. Other than these two things I don't see much hope for a mage unless you time Blink right and blink behind him/her before they get off a shadow bolt or something. You gotta remember, alot of a locks spells the target HAS to be in front and the only AOE spell that's not channeled is Hellfire (other than Seed of Corruption) which also damages the caster. So, best bet would be to probably blast a couple of times and use Arcane explosion while dancing around the lock like a little fairy staying behind him as much as possible. You may still die from the dots if the lock was smart enough to re apply them but ya killed him first...lol
Hope this helps. Here is what I do:
1.
Cast sheep on the Warlock (hopping he doesnt have the pvp trinket)
if he does then cast sheep again.
2. Cast Pyroblast or Frost bolt, subsecuently followed by a rain of fire blast, cone of cold, ice lance.
3. if you see the black casting circules around his hands when you are doing all the instants at step '2' then trow him a CS, this will give you a few more seconds to DPS him as much as you can.
4. if by any chance you get 'fear' uses your pvp trinket insignia of the alliance/horde.
5. If you are already in the middle of the battle try to use all your instant spells as fast as possible to do all the DPS you can.
6. if all your instants are in cool down, well you can ice block spell to finish your cool downs (hope he doesnt bandage or use health stone) then use all your instant dps again and hope to kill him...
so far this are some of the techniques i have used against Warlocks, sometimes they help you win, sometimes well... the warlock is also a smart player...easy as a BM hunter,
but as a mage i get raped. nice idea with the sheep tho. works on everyone so u can use pyro on them and not be attackd.
is it worth sheeping lock and killing summon? or do we jus focus on lock?
imp
is easy but no idea about void or tht other thing(demon)k im going to asume this is just to kill the lock first (cause youll probly die from dots afterwards). now im arcane/fire and starting off with the slow spell and keeping it up is very important (giving u time to see them casting and there reduced casting and speed sometimes causes them to panic and make mistakes). now there pets seem to have like
a 80%% chance to resist all cc or slow spells u cast at them so dealing with them is a waste of time. once slowed get in close and use all your instants (cone of ice, frost nova, fire blast, and finally ice lance) untill my clearcasting procs then i use arcane missiles(i have them imp). you should be fully dotted by now (if not destro lock)and should iceblock just to remove debuffs so the lock ju
