and 10man, where its quite likely2009-05-03 00:00:00It's tually bigger deal in 5man and 10man, where it's quite likely they won't be an Enhaement Shaman (or a shaman at all). It is a pretty big dps buff to your group. Also, if there is a Shaman, youan tell him to drop the Haste to spell totem instead of windfury, whh will help the healercaster while keeping the haste buff to melee. It's a pretty solidhoe imo. What are you missing out on anyway? Here's a dps build and here's a tank build...
Need Tactics for Mage Vs Druid Encounter!2009-04-07 00:00:00Ok so i have a level 49 twink mage, frost spec. Recently feral druids have infested the 40-49 bttleground stage & am really stuggleing with tactics when it comes to killing one...
If i frost nova they instantly shapeshift & break out of it... Any chill effect they instantly shapeshift & break out of it... They break through my ice barrier quicker than a rogue can when in cat form... If i blink then they just leap forward the same distance i just blinked also dazeing me for a few seconds... They have some kinda of healing abilitie whilst in cat form also.
Basicly they hit just as hard if not harder ...
S.H.E.E.P2009-04-07 00:00:00so i got this lvl 52 mage and i was once a twink with him at lvl 39. thing is i just realized now is that polymorth is just as good as fear with locks its just mages don't use them much from wat i seen. the best thing to do in a bg is "polymorth" then "pyroblast" then if the target dosn't do anythin "cast a fire ball" after blink in and do wat ever instant cast spell u have!
depending on the class i think this would work most of the time.

That hasn't worked since trinkets and other anti-loss-of-character-movement abilities. A mage's polymorph would be as good as fear if it didn't heal the target...

Fighting Warlocks PVP Discussion2009-04-07 00:00:00fairy staying behind him as much as possible. You may still die from the dots if the lock was smart enough to re apply them but ya killed him first...lol

Cast sheep on the Warlock (hopping he doesnt have the pvp trinket)
if he does then cast sheep again.

Help a poor little mage2009-04-07 00:00:00Hi, I'll get to the point. I have a mage, Draenei LvL 27 spec'd frost. I'm wanting to lvl her really because the spell casting thing is fun for me from time to time. But I have run into a few problems.
1.) Major Mana Dump. I've played a Shaman before and even went elemental in early lvls using nothing but spells. I still had plenty of mana to spare, but this mage just looses it all within like one fight. 1 on 1.
2.) Spell Rotation. Not sure what to use for the spell rotations.
3.) Spec. I don't know if I've done her spec right so if you can take a look, I'll provide a link
4.) Gear. There has got to be something I can do about gear. She is a Tailor so any suggestions.

Can a mage tank or off-tank caster bosses/mobs?2009-04-07 00:00:00Well, I've found so many defensive talents that had been probably designed for PvP but still very good that I got a question now: Is there a build for tanking mage (like tanking lock)? Well, locks can much easier produce aggro and have less problems with mana but still.
So, how I see this build and tanking process:
The mage tank constantly spams his Improved Arcane Missiles (if his target isn't immune or high resistible to arcane of course) and if we decided to give him Improved Blink he also blinks on CD to raise his survivability.
Our mage also has most of anti-magic and anti-physical talents like Magic Absorption, Frost Warding, Magic Attunement, Improved Mana Shield, Arcane Fortitude, etc and is wearing an appropriate shield buff and resistance gear.
His only attacking spell is Arcane Missiles which he must spent most points and gear into to keep aggro.
Though there's still a problem with holding it and I'm not sure how to solve (surely I've chosen most of the spell damage raising talents but its not enough versus our DD version).
And, of course, mana. Again, most of mana-conversing talents available but not enough... though if our mage is just off-tanking some annoying caster add at Big Bad Bos...
Priest vs Mage BG2009-04-07 00:00:00I am looking into a spellcaster for BG and Arena and would like to know which is the best in terms of damage dealt and surviveability...I am not really interested in what I can do at lvl 70 because that will take me quite a while to get to. Im looking at what I can do a lvl 10-19. I really like BG and would like to be successful at it, but have been told time and time again that mages suck at BG. Can someone please tell me why they say this?

MAGE FTWIn the 10-19 level range, between a priest and a mage, I would choose mage. Not much in the way of specialty yet, so priests wont do too much damage or heal for too much, unless you have them UBER twinked. And while Mages are the same talent wise (not much in them), they still have starter talents that, depending which spec, will make you hit more, do more damage over time on crits, or boost crit damage.
Overall, I would say mages are better in the 10-19 range. Although you'll want to roll Alliance if you do BGs in that range and want to actually win. Alliance does TONS of twinkage then, and totally owns th...

1.Do you run the other way on your mount b/c you no he wont catch you?
2.Do you stay were you are and spam arcane explosion and hope it hits him and he/she pops up
so wot would you do in this situation?
answers are welcomei use to spam arcane exposion when i hear a rogue going in stealth. when he becomes visible i always try not to get stunned (which sometimes is quite hard) and just try to do as much damage as i can.
i know its really hard to beat a rogue when you are mage, because rogues are magekillers, but sometimes i manage to kill one of them.

Then spam Arcane Explosion until I know I'm 'safe', but you see, that's when the Rogue Saps me and then it's all over, cuz the Horde toon near me is oblivious to what's going on with me until it's too late.
